This holiday season, I’m excited to share a few exquisite pieces that have caught my eye as an interior designer and decorator. Each of these luxurious items are not only beautifully crafted but reflects the thoughtful, earth-friendly ethos that I hold dear. Whether you're looking to enhance your own home or gift something truly special, these selections are sure to inspire.
Matthias Contzen Marble Light
During a visit to Portugal earlier this year, I discovered the remarkable work of Matthias Contzen through the art gallery Because Art Matters. His sculptures, made of marble, sound, and light, create a tangible expression of the alignment between the cosmos, energy fields, and humanity. His art is a metaphor for the universe's creation, inviting viewers to connect with its mysteries.
These are not mere pieces but profound experiences. I was mesmerised by the way his work transcends traditional art forms, and I’d love to incorporate one of his sculptures into a client’s personal collection. Price upon request
The Corrugated Collection
I was immediately drawn to the sculptural lines of Hanneke Lourens' Corrugated Collection, a stunning set of five pieces that reimagines the use of corrugated metal—an omnipresent building material in South Africa. A fellow South African, Hanneke’s design pays homage to this everyday element, transforming it into coveted objects of art. Each piece is hand-shaped, ensuring quality and longevity while exuding an understated strength.
I’m angling for one of these pieces in my home, but if you beat me to it, I’d be thrilled to help you make it yours! Side Table: $2,750
The Sculptural Mushroom Vase
What could be more charming than a vase named “The Sculptural Mushroom”? Handmade and made-to-order by ceramicist Anna Shipulina, this unglazed textured clay vase by ceramist Anna Shipulina is a true statement piece. It brings an earthy warmth to any space, whether as a stand-alone sculptural object or paired with an ikebana frog for floral arrangements. Let’s celebrate the beauty of mushrooms! Vase $600
Day for Night Napkins
No ordinary table napkins here—these eco-conscious napkins by Erin Beatty of Rentrayage are born from the idea of reimagining and revitalising what already exists. Made from vintage fabrics and dead-stock, each set represents the brand’s mission to reduce waste while creating beauty and value.
Their home collection is carefully curated, offering pieces that you can purchase with confidence, knowing you're contributing to a new way of thinking—one that values sustainability. The cream/clover colour shown here. Set of 4 Napkins: $96
The Elevate Chair
Sabai’s Elevate Chair is the perfect blend of style and sustainability. Upholstered in a selection of 100% up-cycled and recycled fabrics, this armchair not only looks great but also aligns with eco-conscious living. Sabai stands out with its 'Repair, Don’t Replace' programme, allowing you to easily replace individual components to extend the life of your furniture. So, if your dog happens to chew up a cushion or armrest, you can simply order a replacement instead of tossing the entire chair.
Even more impressive, their 'Sabai Revive' initiative ensures that if you ever need to part with your Sabai piece, they’ll help find it a new home, keeping it out of landfills and further supporting a circular economy. In Recycled Velvet shown here. $1,095
I hope this curated selection inspires your conscious gift-giving this festive season. Each piece embodies a perfect balance of artistry, sustainability, and luxury—values that I hold dear in my designs. If you’re looking to elevate your space or offer an extraordinary gift, I’d love to help you make it truly unforgettable.
